Are you active in the Open Category and regularly run into limitations?

- flying with a drone over 4 kg in or near buildings?
- flying in CTRs or near uncontrolled airfields and in low flying areas?
- flying in industrial or port areas?
- or flying with heavier drones over 25 kg?
Then the Specific Category is the right choice!

Theory

A two-day theory training course has been established for the pilot.
The theory training is conducted at the DroneLand Academy taught exclusively by qualified instructors with practical experience.
In the theory training you will learn about Aviation Law, General Knowledge of Drones, Meteorology, Flight Preparation and much more.

Included in the theory training is:
- online access to learning materials
- an aviation map of Dutch airspace
- a well catered lunch
- delicious coffee & tea

Practice

Once the theory training is completed, the practical part can be started.

Practical training consists of two half-day sessions as standard. More training is possible but not required.
The instructor will make a recommendation. How quickly someone learns the skill in practice varies from person to person and depends, among other things, on previous experience, aptitude, self practice between training sessions and learning ability.

Additional requirements

To work fully legally in the Specific Category, the organization you are flying for (your own company or that of your employer) must hold a permit from the Environmental and Transport Inspectorate.
